My Own Do Not Call List

As my psuedo dating life got weirder & weirder this week, I became torn. I decided not to post about it here, although my policy usually is "If you don't want to be blogged about, don't do stupid things". Bottom line is that, the situation was so confusing that I can't even write about it in a way that is halfway coherent. I have ordered the book "He's just not that into you", & have refused to move at all until it arrives.

I've been called a female Luke Danes. I'm dependable, once people are in my life, they are in my life, usually until they choose not to be anymore. So it's difficult for me to have to say, I just can't be around you anymore. However, it's necessary when dealing with men. Sometimes I just want to scream, "Don't you know who I am? I'm pretty much the coolest girl you'll ever meet & the future princess of Canada & I deserve better than this. You should send me a thousand yellow daises. Now get in the back yard & build me an ice skating rink". That's not even prideful, I think most women need to learn how to say that at one time or another. Tiaras, for everyone.

So, when I come to that decision finally, I change the person's name in my phone to "Don't Answer". That way, I can't go back on my original decision, I don't know who it is. I just know I can't answer it, the phone says. Now I just need to find a ring tone that goes daaa daa duuumm when the don't answers call.

I think I've just learned to say that (except I'm not Canadian royalty - just Texan). My sister just told me last night that, when I'm finally ready to think about men again, I have to wait and let them pursue ME. I've been the pursuer all my life. And it tends to get me men who are complacent and like me but aren't crazy about me. She reminded me that I have a right to have someone absolutely CRAZY about me. You're damned SKIPPY I do! And so do you!

"Now get in the back yard & build me an ice skating rink" - that's one sentence I bet no one has ever said before. :)

The Don't Answer thing sounds very, very wise - but I know I'd be too weak to do it.

If Linda Evangelista wouldn't get out of bed for less than 10,000 bucks a day, why should we for less than a thousand yellow of daisies or our very own ice skating rink? I think your new phone security blanket is awesome!

HA! I love the tiaras for everyone idea. But, unfortunately some boys still wouldn't understand that we should be treated like royalty even when we have a HUGE clue sitting atop our heads.

I've worn out my copy of He's Just Not That Into You. It's brutal and real, but it's very enlightening and smart. I think you will like it.

Such good points from the previous commenters - I don't know what else to add! The whole "let him pursue you" thing is tough advice to follow, but worth the effort. I may have said this before, but the "He's just not that into you" book could have saved me YEARS of heartache and embarrassment if it had been published a few years earlier. Don't beat yourself up as you read it, but feel free to write in the margins, "I ain't never doing THAT again!"

Well if you are the coolest girl ever, then I guess you have the right to be a bit picky. :)
