Look it's something shiny
I'll admit that I'm easily distracted by sparkly objects. Here are a few advertising schemes that even I find absurd:
The Aqua Pod: Tired of your kids drinking soda? Well apparently they will give up all of their sugar craving ways when they see the aqua pod. It's a bottle of water that claims that kids will want to switch to natural spring water because it's a short bottle of water instead of a tall bottle of water. I do give them points for taking a gimmick to a whole new level. Ummm have these people ever met kids?
Cereal Straws: Who has time to eat cereal when you can just drink milk through a chocolate covered cereal straw? My problem with this is the proportion. You'd have to eat like 16 straws to get an actual bowl of cereal.
The nameless infomercial gadget: I don't remember what this was called which is good because now they can't sue me. Yes, my knowledge of the legal system is extensive. The infomercial started talking about how expensive spas & pedicures are. It probably used the old infomercial trick of a black & white picture with green dollar signs flashing over it. Then it showed a lot of gross dried feet.
Here's a little bit of personal information about me: I hate boy's feet, they are just nasty & icky. So then they show this gadget that will save lots of money & will give you beautiful feet. Plus, it's made of durable steel construction. They turned the device over & it's a cheese grater, I kid you not. They even showed how it works on an orange by taking off the skin. Ummm ok I think we can all see the flaw in this logic & I have to stop typing now because I'm freaking myself out just by thinking about it.

I crack up everytime I see the Aquapod commercial...who knew that the secret to healthy kids was cuter bottles?
I'm a little afraid to turn on the TV after your description of the pedicure/fruit zester product. Eesh.
Agh! That is a terrifying concept!
okay, but i still want to drink water out of the cute little bottle. i'm such a chump for packaging...sigh.
Oh my goodness, I learn so much from you. Which is amazing because I usually have trouble reading through the tears of laughter. Seriously, could you please write the comedic screen play for my life? You are freaking hilarious!
You are so funny!
Hmmm....I have an actual cheese grater at home. If only I had thought to use it on my feet and patent the idea, I could have have been a millionaire. Sigh. Another chance lost.
Those cereal straws have never added up in my mind either. And I haven't seen the Aquapods yet. I don't think they'd distract my kids from juice or soda, but they would definitely want that cute little bottle over a plain old cup. And then they'd want me to refill it with juice.
I hadn't heard of Aquapods either...maybe it's a concept that hasn't reached Texas yet? :)
And cereal straws seem like the dumbest thing ever...if cereal gets soggy, won't your straw get soggy and leaky, too? Hmmm...
