Phew

Well, I followed the great advice to wait & not call the boy, & he called. We went out yesterday, & it was pretty horrible. I shouldn't feel relieved, but I do. That was a close one. I kept thinking about how Lynette commented to watch out for flags, & this boy was a veritable color guard.

I did find out that I'm an excellent fisherwoman. In fact, I caught so many fish that I was severely reprimanded by other people for not being more demure & letting the boy catch more fish. It's not my fault if the boy can't fish. I felt very much like a Gilmore Girl when they were trying to get Lorelai ready for her fishing date & would've brought the poor trout home to live in the bathtub if possible.

I was so wicked awesome that the boy asked me to date his friend. I said something to the effect of "I just don't want to", & left. (It's Utah, people date weird. I don't understand it either). So for everyone who left such wicked awesome comments before, thanks, I bought the book that was recommended, & the comment section on the previous post is a pretty impressive dating compendium.

Um, yeah, asking a girl to date your friend while you are on a date with her is WEIRD!

You are much better off without this guy.

Congrats on your newfound fishing skills!

I'm sad I missed the original dating post. How does it feel to be fish's greatest fear?

I might be able to wait for a guy to call me back (I mean, I asked future ex out initially and then ended up proposing and we can see how well that worked out).

But I cannot sit back and demurely let someone else catch more fish than me. If I'm good at something, God made me good at it for a reason. FISH THEM FISH, GIRL!

(For the love of Pete - my word verification is pigvice. That's just odd.)

I love that you're from Utah and say "wicked awesome." Did you have a New England childhood I don't know about???

Sorry the guy turned out to be a bummer, but it's always nice when he's the one who calls for the second date. I LOVE that book (although the author is a little much to take). It would have saved me YEARS of dating disasters if anyone had been brave enough to say "He's just not that into you" on any of the numerous occasions when that was plainly what was going on.

Mr. Right is on his way...then you'll be Sarahappykastic :)

This is one of the most unexpected sets of blog posts I've ever read - who would have thought that a good date could suck? But it is so horribly true!
