The proper use of air quotes

I hate it when people are picky about spelling or grammar. I like to write in one big run on sentence. We all have our talents & that is mine. I'm not a big fan of air quotes either. Turns out I hate a lot of things. Anyways, back to air quotes, they always make me jump like someone is attacking me. Lately I have noticed several signs such as "One" car at a time, or "One" scone with dinner. So when you say only one car at a time, that is up for question? I might get two scones for dinner? Did the President say that I might get two scones for dinner & you are quoting him? Type in caps, underline it, but don't use quotes to emphasize your point.
