Vintage vs. Antique

I'm tired, & acting like a 4 year old because for some odd reason I just want to exercise my right to stay up late. Let's face it being a grown up sucks. Really the only good part of being an adult is that I can now stay up as late as I want & eat candy. Well that & wear a tiara in the grocery store. Great Googly Moogly I'm going to exercise that right. Oh & I can date ninjas now, I guess being a grown up isn't so bad after all.

So, I'm trying to stay awake so I was looking through all of the pictures at creative commons. I noticed that everything with the word antique in it is sad looking & everything with the word vintage in it is cute. I love everything with character in it, but I hate antique stores. They always seem to be overpriced. The only thing I've seen in an antique store that I've wanted to buy were two large paper mache heads. No necks, no bodies, just giant paper mache heads. They must've been the size of a dresser, but they were like $600 each. Now because I've lost the ability to form sentences, here is a picture from the days when one could taxidermy a fox holding a duck.

I have the reputation of being a feminist. I wouldn't say I agree with the politics of modern day feminism as much as I just really hate stupidity. I refused to wear any pink clothing until about the age of 22. Then I realized that if I dressed in pink, people would be utterly surprised when I randomly kicked boys. However, even with all of this I've always wanted to wear what the Gilmore Girls call "a dress with large circumference".

Taxidermied animals always give me the creeps, but that fox and duck are especially bad. And I think wearing a dress with a large circumference would be lovely.

It's pretty much impossible to stay unhappy while wearing a dress with a large circumference. As always, the Gilmore Girls understand.

It's a Gilmore doll! It's Rory cooking dinner for Dean at Babette's house!

Stacy took the words out of my mouth! I was totally thinking of the Donna Reed episode, too!

LOVE the doll, and that fox isn't too shabby either!

Have to admit, I've never aspired to a large circumference dress (and I don't even remember when it was mentioned on the show...) But go for it! Then post pictures. ;)

If you're interested, I tagged you for the 'six thing meme'. (I think I've done it a few times now).

One of the best things for me about being a grownup: I NEVER EVER eat cooked carrots! NEVER!

*sigh*

I miss the days when one could taxidermy a fox holding a duck.

I love it: vintage=cute and antique=depressing. You know? I'd never noticed that before, but I think you have a point there.

I have some friends in Australia who have a family business selling antiques. They basically built it up from flea markets to the most pretentious and overpriced shop in Western Australia. Not that they're pretentious or anything. And they get to go on huge trips to Europe and America to buy old stuff and resell at massive profit. I just think the people who buy that stuff for the status it'll give their houses are so stupid. I can maybe appreciate a real collector's love for an item of beautiful or historical significance... but the nouveau riche people who make up most of their clientele... ugh. Anyway. I like the idea of a dress with a large circumference too.
